Srinagar : “Gojri Ka Lal” a book on life and works of prominent Gujjar saint Mian Nizam-ud-Din Larvi was released by famed religious leader Padam Bhushan Mian Bashir Ahmed today on concluding day of annual Urs here at Wanghat Kangan.
356 Pages collection of research papers was edited by Dr. Javaid Rahi, and published by the Gojri wing of Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages. A galaxy of religious scholars, prominent Gujjar personalities and thousands of devotees from Pakistan and Northern India witnessed the event.
Highlighting the life and contribution of Haji Mian Nizam ud Din, Mian Bashir Ahmad stated that he was man of multiple interests, had created awareness among his people about religious, social, cultural and politics which prompted them to struggle for their identity and political rights. Being a scholar Mian Nizam-ud Din had written about half dozen books on “Islamic Jurisprudence” and other aspects of religion, he added. He further said that Mian Nizam sahib was the icon of our tribal entity and served for the cause of Gujjars in the State.
He appreciated the efforts of Gojri Wing of State Academy in preservation and propagation of the Language through various means adding that this number on life and work of most revered saint Mian Nizam-ud Din is a pioneering one.
Mian Altaf Ahmed who also spoke the occasion stated that Gojri being a tribal language needs special attention of government. He said that the contribution of Mian Nizam-ud-Din for starting up of Gojri programme from Radio Kashmir Srinagar, way back in 1969 was a milestone in exploring our identity as whole. He also remembered his work as legislature where he was a vibrant force of Gujjars decades together.
Dr. Javaid Rahi, Head and Editor cum Cultural Officer said that this year our Wing has published 20 publications and this number on life and works Mian Nizam-ud Din is prestigious one. He added in order to enrich the Gojri language we are translating our 50 world classics into Gojri and 12 have already been published.
He said that in order to glorify Gujjar Sofi tradition we are planning to compile such special numbers in future as well.
