Set up a commission to investigate terrorism: Milli Council

Gorakhpur: “We have lost faith in the police because they only trace the hand of a particular community behind every incident of terror,” said general secretary of All India Milli Council (AIMC) Dr. Manzoor Alam, declaring terrorism to be a national problem.

Talking to pressmen on 9th June he demanded formation of a commission comprising two ex-judges of Supreme Court to investigate terrorist activities seen at different places of the country during last ten years and expose the organizations and people involved in these activities.

He was in the city to attend a seminar on ‘Challenge of 21st Century and Muslim Ummah’ held at Islamia Inter College. Dr. Manzoor Alam said bureaucrats give biased treatment to Muslims and have-nots as revealed in different government reports, and accused them of not working as per import of the Constitution of India. He cited Sachar Committee report that tells Muslims are given biased treatment in 30% cases.

Earlier, addressing Muslim intellectuals at the seminar, he stressed on Muslims’ education, saying that Muslims’ expertise in all departments is crucial. He also appealed to them to forgo personal differences in for the sake of unity of the Millat. He said provocation and enragement signifies weakness of the youths of the community. Calling the Constitution of India to be a better constitution, Dr. Manzoor Alam said this constitution has given a weapon to everyone in the form of right to vote through which big social and political changes can be brought.
