Dhaka, Bangladesh : A domestic news agency says Bangladesh’s government has ordered the release of ailing former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
United News of Bangladesh said the order was signed by interim government chief Fakhruddin Ahmed on Wednesday.
Hasina has been in jail since July last year on several corruption charges. A special court recently exempted her from attending the trials in person after her lawyers petitioned for her release for medical treatment abroad.
The lawyers said she has been suffering from ear and eye problems.
