Vienna : Officials in southern Austria say a fire that swept through a building housing asylum-seekers has killed one person and injured 19 others, according to AP.
Police in the city of Klagenfurt say one of two people who jumped from a second-floor window to escape the flames was killed. They say the second jumper suffered serious injuries.
Investigators were trying to determine what caused the early morning fire on Thursday. Authorities say firefighters extinguished the blaze by 9 a.m. (0700 GMT).
Details of the victims’ nationalities were not immediately available, but officials say the asylum-seekers living in the building were all from Africa. They say 37 people were being housed there temporarily.
