Nashik : A fight between two groups of youngsters in Maharashtra’s Nashik city snowballed into a riot-like situation Friday and police had to resort to baton-charge to control the mob. Fifteen people were arrested, police said.
Two motorcycle-borne youths accidentally hit some youths who were standing on the roadside in Nashik’s Bhaganpur area, leading to a fight between the two groups, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Nashik) S.D Trimbake.
They went back to their respective homes, only to return with their friends and the two groups started throwing stones at each other, the police officer told IANS over phone.
Police came onto the scene within 10 minutes, he claimed.
“There was a baton-charge and we also used six rounds of tear gas to disperse the mob. Within 10 minutes of our arrival, the situation was under control,” Tirambake said.
