Badawi made this remark during a tour to Malaysia’s northern state of Kelantan, as some people, including some leaders of local branches of the ruling United Malays National Organization (UMNO), were still suspicious of the relationship between him and Najib, Bernama said.

Badawi said that he had no problems with Najib and they enjoyed “good working relations”, according to Bernama.

The Malaysian prime minister said that people should stop speculating on his relationship with Najib as such talk was of no benefit to anyone, Bernama said.

Najib, who was on an overseas visit to London, said there on Thursday that he would not challenge Badawi for power to avoid any risk destroying the UMNO, Bernama said.
