Raipur : Two Chhattisgarh girl students – one who stood first in the Class 12 and the other who was ranked third in the class 10 final exams – have been booked for forgery on the request of the Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education (CGBSE), officials said Sunday.
Board officials said that two separate FIRs were lodged against Class 12 topper Porra Bai and Himani Tiwari, who stood third in Class 10, at Janjgir district’s Bahminidih police station late Saturday.
Apart from the two girls, 16 people, including two school principals, 12 teachers and Himani’s father Ramesh Tiwari, were also charged with “forgery and cheating”.
Charges were filed after the board’s probe panel in its 420-page report found 13 people, including the school principals and seven teachers, guilty of forgery and involvement in a conspiracy to help Porra Bai achieve the top position with 484 marks out of the total 500.
The panel also found that answer-sheets of Porra Bai, a student of the Birra Government School in Janjgir district, were written by subject experts outside the exam centres and not a single mistake was detected in any of her answer-sheets.
In Himani’s case, her parents arranged forgery in nexus with some teachers. She was placed third on the merit list among 296,227 candidates in results announced May 30.
