Islamabad : It’s Fathers’ Day today—not just in Pakistan, but in most of the world countries to honor and commemorate fathers and forefathers.
Father’s Day is celebrated on a variety of dates worldwide and typically involves gift-giving, and special dinners to fathers and family-oriented activities.
In 2008, it is celebrated on June 15th in most countries.
Father’s Day is a celebration inaugurated in the early twentieth century to complement Mother’s Day in celebrating fatherhood and male parenting.
This Father’s Day brings a mixed bunch of feeling. There is nothing in the world that compares to parenthood – the greatest of joys, and the greatest of responsibilities.
Fathers are special today, and are made feel special by their children who throw parties, invite them to luncheon and dinners and present them gifts.
“It feels really great to observe days like the one we have today (Fathers’ Day)…I am living in a hostel here, but going home to my native town just to tell my father that I feel special for him,” said Mubarak Ali, who is a final year student of International Relations.
The day brings joys to fathers in a country like Pakistan where a very strong family system exists with deep emotional attachment among the members.
“I could not hold my tears today when my children woke me up early in the morning and said in single voice—We love you Abbu (Dad)–,” said Abdul Rahman, a father of three .
