OIC Foreign Minister meet in Uganda next Wednesday

Riyadh : Foreign ministers of the Organization the Islamic Conference (OIC) will hold their 35th meeting in the Ugandan capital Kampala next Wednesday, OIC said in a statement.

The three-day meeting will discuss developments of the Palestinian cause and the Holy City of Jerusalem in light of the repeated Israeli aggressions against the Palestinian people and the continuation of building settlement and excavations; endangering the foundations of Al-Aqsa Mosque, in addition to the economic situation in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Furthermore, the meeting will address the situation in Iraq and ways to support the rebuilding of state institutions and national economy in the violence-plagued country, the statement added.

Among the issues to be conferred about are the Jammu and Kashmir in light of an anticipated Indian-Pakistani understanding in that regard through cease-fire and confidence-building measures between the two sides, it noted.

The meeting’s agenda also includes studying the situation in Sudan and the peace initiatives to end the conflict in Darfur, as well as situations in Afghanistan and border violations executed by Armenia against neighboring Azerbaijan.

It also includes discussing the issue of terrorism and the impact of unilateral sanctions on OIC members, including Syria and Libya, where the latter, according to the statement was entitled to compensations for the US aggression in 1986, in addition to its right of compensations from sanctions imposed in the 1990s.
The meeting will also discuss the Iranian nuclear dossier, the dangers of Israel’s possession of nuclear weapons, OIC’s initiatives to alleviate poverty in least developed countries, the trading system, and the advancement of women in Islamic societies.
