Kozhikode : One person was injured when the police used force here Monday to disperse a protest march by the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) to a car dealership owned by NRI businessman and Rajya Sabha member P.V. Abdul Wahab of the Indian Union Muslim League.
The BJYM, the youth wing of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), alleged that the outlet, Indus Motors, is located on government land that should be immediately taken back.
It was reported that the land was allotted by the state government in 1964 to a steel company to set up a unit that closed down in 1997.
Kozhikode district collector A. Jayathilak issued a notice June 13 to the steel company to show cause why the land should not be taken back since it was not being used for the purpose for which the allotment was made.
When contacted, Wahab said he was not aware of the protest march. On the controversy over the land, he said he had to first study the issue and consult his advocate before reacting.
