Kolkata : Mani Square, Kolkata’s fifth mall, which boasts of a multiplex, 150 shops, gaming centres and a radio station, is set to open Aug 14, the Mani Group said Tuesday.
“Mani Square will officially open its doors to the city Aug 14. It took us three years and three days to complete the Rs.2.7 billion-project. It is going to be a ‘global supermall’ with 150 shops put up by national and international brands, a multiplex and business centres. It is the first mall in eastern India to have a mall radio station,” Subesh Ray, the company’s senior vice-president and marketing head, told reporters.
“We are investing Rs.50 million to build two flyovers with escalators and two service roads, and to beautify the area around the mall,” Ray added.
On the existing four malls in the city, Mani Square Ltd’s chief operating officer Lou Armstrong said: “There is no comparison of Mani Square with other malls. Every thing here is larger than life. For example, while other malls have only 14 vendors in the food court we have 17. Besides, the first McDonalds outlet in Kolkata and IMAX multiplex are among the major attractions here.”
The 710,000 sq ft mall is located on the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass, the main north-south artery of Kolkata.
