Chandigarh : The Haryana Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation has entered global markets by exporting over 625 tonnes of superior quality Basmati rice to Australia and Saudi Arabia, a state minister said here Friday.
Cooperation and Agriculture Minister H.S. Chatha said more international markets were being explored for export of rice from the state.
The Karnal district belt in Haryana is famous for superior quality Basmati rice production. Much of the recent Basmati exports have been to Saudi Arabia, he added.
