Kabul : Scores of Afghans gathered in Afghanistan’s eastern province of Nangarhar on Monday to register their protest against the alleged shooting of two civilians by the US-led coalition troops there. Locals and officials said a father and his son were killed as the coalition troops targeted a “militant” who was planting a landmine in Khogiani district of Nangarhar the same day. Chief of Khogiani district Zalmay Khan said the troops targeted a militant hideout. In the meantime, a cannon shell hit a house resulting in the killing of two civilians. Chanting slogans against the Afghan government and the foreign troops, the protestors demanded trial of those responsible for the killing of innocent civilians. There was no comment from the coalition troops so far. A spokesman for the coalition troops confirmed the killing of a suspected militant in firing but said he did not know about the civilian casualties.
