Sirsa (Haryana) : After being at the centre of two days of violence in Mumbai last week, controversial Dera Sacha Sauda sect chief Gurmit Ram Rahim Singh Monday arrived back at his sect headquarters on the outskirts of this Haryana town.
The sect chief flew straight to the Dera headquarters, 300 km from state capital Chandigarh, in a chartered helicopter. He was accompanied by close family members from Delhi. He had in the morning taken a flight from Bangalore to Delhi.
He was immediately taken away by security personnel and close aides to his ‘gufa’ (cave) inside the sect campus where he lives.
Tight security measures were in place at the sect headquarters Monday with every follower thoroughly checked before being allowed entry.
The district administration has already stationed companies of the Rapid Action Force (RAF) and other security agencies to prevent any untoward incident.
Protests against the dera chief were held in various places in Punjab Monday seeking his arrest. Sikh organizations have called for a strike Wednesday against the sect chief.
The sect chief’s security personnel had fired at Sikh protesters outside a Mumbai mall Friday, killing a Sikh youth. The incident took place in Mulund area of the city.
This triggered violence by Sikh activists Saturday in several parts of Mumbai, affecting the life of common people.
