Gaza : Palestinian ex-prime minister Ismail Haniya has said that it is early to judge Israel’s commitment to the truce, which took effect last Thursday in the Gaza Strip.
Haniya, a Hamas leader, told a news conference here Monday that he anticipated improvement in living conditions in Gaza if Israel were committed to the Egypt-brokered truce.
“Let the days pass … and we will see how Israel is committed to the understanding (of the truce), and we will send daily reports to the Egyptian brothers showing how much Israel is abiding by the agreement,” said Haniya.
Haniya hoped the truce would pave way for the complete liberation of the Palestinian territories.
The Hamas leader appreciated the “responsible” role of the other Palestinian factions by observing the truce.
