Gaza : Armed wing of Islamic Jihad movement on Tuesday vowed to retaliate for the killing of one of its commanders by Israeli forces in the West Bank.
Abu Hamza, a spokesman for al-Quds Brigades, said the Gaza ceasefire “became in the windward” and that the Islamic Jihad militants will “respond immediately in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank to the death of Tarek Abu Ghali.”
Abu Ghali, 25, and a university student, were killed early Tuesday after the Israeli forces surrounded a house in Nablus city in a bid to arrest the commander.
The incident came on the sixth day of six-month ceasefire reached between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.
The Egyptian-brokered ceasefire only applies in the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip and is designated to extend to the West Bankin advanced phases.
Earlier, the Islamic Jihad said it will respond to the Israeli violations of ceasefire but will decide the kind of response “according to the nature, place and time” of the Israeli violation.
On Monday, a Palestinian farmer was seriously injured by Israeli gunfire as he worked in his land near security fence that separates Gaza and Israel in Beit Lahiya town in northern Gaza Strip.
