Hamas spokesman in Gaza, Sami Abu Zuhri, made the remarks after the Israeli army shot dead two Palestinian students, including an Islamic Jihad (Holy War) militant, in the West Bank city of Nablus.

“Killing two Palestinian citizens in the city of Nablus is a continuation of an Israeli episode of aggression on the Palestinian people,” said Abu Zuhri.

He said his movement is still committed to the truce in Gaza. However, the Hamas spokesman called on militants in the West Bank to respond to the killing of two people in Nablus.

Moreover, Abu Zuhri urged Arab and the international community to pressurize Israel “to stop its crimes against the Palestinians in the West Bank.”

Egypt has brokered an unwritten truce agreement between Israel and Gaza armed groups led by Hamas in an attempt to stop Palestinian rockets attacks on Israel and Israeli military operations into the impoverished Gaza Strip.

The agreement also calls on Israel to gradually reopen Gaza border crossings and ease a blockade the Jewish state imposed on the coastal enclave after Hamas routed Fatah’s security forces and grasped the rein of Gaza in mid June last year.

The ceasefire agreement currently only includes the Gaza Strip for six months. If the truce in Gaza succeeds, it will then expand to the West Bank.
