Chandimandir (Haryana): The Haryana government Thursday announced that it will give 10 percent discount on the cost of developed land for setting up colonies for defence personnel in the state.
Making the announcement at a civil-military liaison conference here at the Western Command headquarters, chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said the state and the country were indebted to the brave soldiers.
Hooda also announced waiving off of two percent entry tax on canteen items coming into the state.
The chief minister pointed out that every 10th soldier in the Indian Army was from Haryana.
He said the state had over 280,000 ex-servicemen and the government was committed to their welfare. He said Rs.280 million will be spent by the state for the welfare of serving and former soldiers, and their families.
The Western Command General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Lt. Gen T.K. Sapru, senior military, civil and police officers were present at the meeting.
