Gunmen kill four in northwest Pakistan

Islamabad : At least four people were shot dead Saturday by unidentified gunmen in Pakistan’s restive northwestern Swat valley, the police said.

According to the official APP news agency, the law and order situation remained tense in Swat as several criminal incidents were reported that included killing of four people by unknown gunmen in the Kabal tehsil.

In separate incidents, three bombs were seized by the police from the Matta College Chowk, while two shops were set ablaze in Kabal by unidentified men, the report said.

The police found three bullet-ridden bodies in a stream. Another body with a slit throat was retrieved from a field, the report quoted a police officer as saying.

He said a bomb disposal squad defused the bombs that were planted on the main road by unknown militants.
