New Delhi : The last 10 years have been a golden era for the Sino-India relationship with several historical decisions taken during the period, a Chinese diplomat said in Kolkata on Saturday.
“During the period, India made a statement that China was not a threat to India, China recognizes Sikkim as part of India, there were military exchanges, the Sino-India strategic partnership was signed, there was border trade through Nathula pass and bilateral trade went to a new high,” Chinese Consul General in Kolkata Mao Siwei told members of the India China Friendship Association, Indian official media reported here.
“I believe the golden period of the India-China relationship is the last 10 years,” he said.
Chinese companies were also getting large contracts in India valued in billions, including in the power sector totalling 10,000 MW.
West Bengal Assembly Speaker Hasim Abdul Halim said India and China could work together in addressing the crisis in fossil fuel.
He also said the association could play a major role in strengthening India-China friendship in future.
