Gaza : US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has contacted Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and discussed the developments in the Gaza Strip, the Palestinian Radio said.
The radio said Sunday Abbas asked Rice to do whatever it could to stop the Israeli military operations which were affecting the peace process.
It quoted Rice as promising Abbas that she would do whatever she could to secure an international action to reach a just and comprehensive peace between the Israelis and Palestinians.
Rice is expected to visit the Middle East region for talks with Israeli and Palestinian officials to help them move forward with their negotiations.
