Hyderabad : In a novel initiative, Andhra Pradesh Police are printing “know your criminals” booklets containing photographs, addresses and brief crime details of 400 notorious offenders of the capital city.
“The idea behind printing these booklets is primarily to show the photos of offenders to the victims immediately after occurrence of the crime. Secondly, the policeman on the streets can always refresh his memory about the criminals whenever he finds free time,” said a statement from city police commissioner’s office Monday.
The booklets will have details on chain snatchers, habitual offenders, automobile lifters, robbers and dacoits and pick-pockets.
The KYC booklets will be provided to all police stations, sub-inspectors, inspectors, traffic police, mobile teams and others.
The police have urged all the security agencies guarding apartments, residential complexes, shopping malls and entertainment parks to have these booklets to prevent movement of criminals in their localities.
In the second phase, the police plan to print booklets containing details of white-collar criminals and the same would be supplied to banks and financial institutions.
