Cairo : The Council of the League of Arab States has strongly denounced war crimes perpetrated by Israel in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank and its continued assassinations and killings of unarmed civilians and children.
In a statement following the conclusion of the 129th round of the Council’s session at the level of permanent representatives here Monday, it considered the war crimes carried out by Israel in the occupied Palestinian territories as an abortion of the negotiations and declaration of war on the peace process.
The Council expressed deep indignation and displeasure over the serious escalation by Israel, regarding it as “an organised state terrorism” and flagrant violation of international and humanitarian law as well as human rights law and the Fourth Geneva Convention on protection of civilians in times of war.
It also deplored and condemned the heinous crimes perpetrated by Israel in the Gaza Strip, which so far have killed some 100 Palestinians and wounded hundreds, stressing that the Israeli practices are war crimes, genocide, ethnic cleansing and a real holocaust.
The Council called upon the United Nations, the international community and the Human Rights Council to move immediately and rapidly to stop the massacres and crimes against the unarmed Palestinian people and to take concrete actions and rapid international intervention to protect the Palestinian people.
