Ranchi : The postal department will launch scented post card in Jharkhand soon.
Called “Khushboo Ke Pal”, they will be launched to improve the sale of postcards.
“The post card will smell of roses. It will also have photographs of eminent personalities of the country,” said Anil Kumar, director of Jharkhand postal department.
He said the rose-scented postcard would be launched by the middle of March.
Kumar admitted that the sale of postcards has gone down by 60 percent in the last two years due to SMS and e-mail services. “We hope people are attracted towards the scented post cards and envelopes,” he said.
He said letter writing is common in the US. “In US, on an average, people write 900 letters in year whereas in India, a person writes only nine letter in a year,” he said.
Jharkhand postal department is diversifying to meet new challenges. The postal department has started selling condoms, health kits, preparing PAN number and passports.
