Addressing the UN-sponsored Conference of Disarmament, Mottaki also condemned the so-called military doctrines of pre-emptive strikes, which have been pursued by the U.S. administration in dealing with terrorist threats.

Military doctrines based on pre-emptive strikes are not justifiable and are in clear contradiction of the letter and spirit of the United Nations Charter, Mottaki said.

The minister also implicitly accused the Unites States of imposing illegitimate and unjustifiable sanctions against other nations and misusing international bodies solely for self-interests.

He added that U.S. accusations about Iran’s nuclear program are just a pretext, which means to create a smokescreen to cover non-compliance with disarmament regimes and to deceive public opinion.
