Ramallah : A two-month-old toddler was killed and eight militants wounded on Tuesday night in a new Israeli army raid on the village of al-Garara, east of the southern Gaza Strip city of Khan Younis, medics said.
Residents in the village, which is about two kilometers away from the borders between the Gaza Strip and Israel, said that several Israeli army tanks and armored vehicles backed by helicopters rolled into the area amid intensive shooting.
They added that Israeli forces surrounded a house that belongs to a local Islamic Jihad (Holy War) leader in the village, while militants exchanged fire with the soldiers.
Medics at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis said that a female toddler was shot dead and eight Palestinians wounded. Witnesses said the eight were militants.
Since last Wednesday, some 125 Gaza Palestinians had been killed and 380 others wounded due to the Israeli incursion into the Hamas-run Gaza Strip.
The Israeli army said the operations into the Gaza Strip would continue to curb rocket attacks carried out by Palestinian militants.
