Bangalore : Activists and supporters of Communist Party of India -Marxist (CPI-M) Monday took out a rally here to protest the attack on the house of the party’s state secretary V.J.K. Nair.
The protestors led by Nair met P.H.K. Tharakan, advisor to Karnataka Governor Rameshwar Thakur, and submitted a memorandum, seeking action against the attackers.
Nair alleged that six people, some of them masked, and carrying a sword, crow bar and butcher’s knife, barged into his house in Gangamma Circle area in north Bangalore around 10 p.m. Sunday.
They then allegedly held his wife Rajamma at a knifepoint and ransacked the house after she refused to disclose where he was. Some of them spoke in Malayalam, according to Rajamma.
Nair was in Kerala at the time of the attack and returned to the city Monday.
“My wife is not hurt. Damage to household property would be between Rs.200,000 to Rs.250,000,” Nair told IANS.
