Lebanese Ulema urges UN to punish Israel

Beirut : Lebanese religious leaders yesterday called on the international community to punish Israel for its crimes against the Palestinian people. This came in a statement issued after a meeting between the Mufti of Lebanon Sheikh Mohammad Rashid Qabbani, Deputy chairman of the higher Shiite Islamic Council Sheikh Abdulamir Qabalan, and Druze leader Sheikh Naeem Hassan, KUNA reported. The religious leaders condemned the Israeli systematic attacks against the Palestinians and urged the UN to consider them as “war crimes” and to deal with the Jewish state accordingly.

They condemned the “American cover up and justifications for the Israeli crimes, and derailing the condemnation in the international security council.” They urged the international human rights and humanitarian organizations to reject the Israeli crimes against the civilians in Gaza Strip. The religious leaders called for lifting the Israeli siege on Gaza.
