OIC foreign ministers discuss varied agenda

Dakar : A varied agenda ranging from the Israeli- Palestinian conflict to the economic, social, cultural and humanitarian issues through political, legal and financial affairs is being discussed by foreign ministers of the Organization of the Islamic Conference.

The two-day meeting will be held as a prelude to the 11th heads of state and government summit to take place in the Senegalese capital on March 13-14, according to APS, Senegalese press agency.

The implementation of the OIC’s ten-year plan (based on the promotion of solidarity among member states), the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the political, economic, cultural, social and humanitarian affairs, as well as issues relating to information, science and technology are on the agenda of the meeting.

The meeting will also deliberate upon administrative and financial affairs, as well as OIC organic, legal, statutory and general issues.

The foreign ministers will also examine the report of a previous meeting of the Islamic Ummah’s senior officials, draft agendas, work plans for the heads of state and government conference, as well as the draft final communique and ‘Dakar Declaration’.

The ministers of the 57 Islamic Ummah countries will discuss the progress in the intergovernmental working group’s deliberations upon the revision of the OIC Charter.

They will also prepare then adopt the report of the meeting preliminary to the heads of state and government conference.
