Islamabad : Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) MNA-elect and Prime Minister hopeful Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar Wednesday appreciated the party Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari for taking along all political parties in government formation at centre and provinces in well and smooth manner.
Talking to a private television (ARY One World), he said the party leadership was committed to put the country on consistent path to democracy and development.
To a question, Ahmed Mukhtar said Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari had discussed his name for the slot of premiership with senior leadership of the party keeping in view his (Mukhtar) political experience and educational qualification.
He said even he himself was unaware about the said discussion among the senior leadership of PPP.
Mukhtar said through media he came to know that his name was being discussed for premiership, adding “I have strong conviction that I will become PM by the grace of Allah Almighty.”
However, he said whatever decision is taken by the party in this regard “it will be unanimous and acceptable to all”, adding PPP Co-Chairman has the right to nominate and finalize name of the candidate for premiership.
When asked that either he was being made an interim PM or for complete term of five years, Mukhtar said it would be upto the party and its guidelines.
