Vicky, 22, was allegedly picked up for chain snatching Wednesday by the Special Staff of southwest Delhi Police from the Delhi Golf Club, where he worked.

“The police had picked up Vicky from Dhaula Kuan yesterday (Wednesday). They had beaten him up brutally, resulting in his death,” Vicky’s inconsolable mother Babli said.

Vicky was the sole breadwinner for the family.

“They had taken him to the Safdarjung Hospital where people said there were bruises on his body,” his sister Suman said.

However, Delhi Police refuted the allegation.

“The deceased was found unconscious at Dhaula Kuan from where the police took him to the hospital. He had complained of stomach ache and died at the hospital,” Assistant Commissioner of Police (Delhi Cantonment) Hansraj told IANS.

“An autopsy has been conducted and a magisterial probe has been ordered into the matter,” Hansraj added.
