Iran, Indonesia sign first petrochemical deal

Tehran : Iran and Indonesia have signed an agreement for joint investment in ammonia-urea production in southern Iran.

The 470-million-Euro agreement was inked by officials from Iran’s and Indonesia’s petrochemical companies Wednesday.

The joint-investment project is to be carried out in Assalouyeh, Bushehr province southern Iran.

The project would be completed within four years from the start of its construction operations.

The production capacity of the project is estimated at 1.7 million ton per year.

The agreement was signed during a visit to Iran by a high-ranking economic and political delegation from Indonesia.

The delegation was headed by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono who left Tehran for Dakar, Senegal, Wednesday to attend the summit of leaders of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC) in the African state.

Five documents were signed during Yudhoyono’s visit to Iran in various fields of economic cooperation.
