JIH launches religious harmony drive

Mangalore : In an increasingly charged atmosphere in the otherwise peaceful State of Karnataka, the district unit of the Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) has decided to launch a religious harmony campaign from March 16 to 30.

"The prime concern of the 15-day campaign is to promote peace and harmony in the district," convener of the campaign Abdul Salaam and Mohammad Kunhi of Shanti Prakashana (Shanti Publication) told the presspersons at a press conference here Wednesday.

"The drive will also include door to door campaign," Mr. Kunhi added.

Deputy Commissioner M Maheshwar Rao will flag off ‘Sauharda Vahini’ a vehicle to disseminate the aims and missions of the campaign across the district in the presence of other higher officials on March 17.

The campaign will conclude with a public conference at Nehru Maidan on March 29, Mr Kunhi further said.
