Kabul : A suicide bomber on Thursday morning blew himself up near a convoy belonging to the U.S.-led Coalition, killing at least six civilians and injuring 10 others in Afghan capital Kabul, said a statement of the Interior Ministry.
It occurred at around 8:10 a.m. (0340 GMT) when a suicide attacker drove a car laden of explosive material and blew it up near the Coalition convoy on the way to the Kabul airport, the statement said.
Zabihullah Mujahed, the purported spokesman of Taliban insurgents, claimed responsibility for the suicide attack.
Mujahed told Xinhua via phone from an unknown hideout that one Taliban soldier carried out suicide car bombing near a foreign military convoy and damaging two vehicles and causing huge casualties.
Conflicts and Taliban-related violence claimed around 8,000 lives last year, according to a latest-released UN figure.
Over 210 people have been killed mostly in suicide attacks and roadside bombings this year across the war-torn country.
