New Delhi : Members of parliament cutting across the party lines Thursday complained of connectivity troubles on their mobile phones for which the services are provided by state-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL).
“The BSNL phones do not have connectivity, especially in the evening,” Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) parliamentarian Suresh Kurup said, raising the matter in the Lok Sabha during zero hour.
“The private companies are using the BSNL infrastructure and the BSNL service users are facing the trouble,” he alleged even as many MPs from both sides thumbed the desk to support the member.
According to Kurup, even the complaint cells of the state-owned telecom services were not responding to their grievances. “They do not even respond to the calls,” he said.
Parliamentarians are provided BSNL connections.
Earlier this week, Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee also raised the matter in the Lok Sabha, giving the service provider a new name “Bhai Saab Nahin Lenge”. Banerjee has also complained that her telephone was being tapped.
