Egypt’s Mubarak to deliver speech before Muslim scholars next Sunday

Cairo : Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak will deliver a speech to scholars and thinkers from various Islamic countries next Sunday at the beginning of events of the 20th International Conference of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs.

Kuwait participates in the conference with a delegation to be headed by Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Abdullah Al-Muhailbi and a number of intellectuals, scholars, professors from the College of Sharia.

Egyptian Minister of Awqaf, Dr Mahmoud Hamdi Zaqzouq said in a statement Friday that Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Nazif will deliver the speech on behalf of Egyptian President at the conference to be held under the title “Sociatal Security elements in Islam.”

He pointed out that the conference will deal with four themes on social rights, social justice, faith concept and the role of institutions in achieving social security and social rights of citizens through the sociatal security through the discussion of some 100 researches and studies to be presented by intellectuals, scientists, and experts in issues of the dialogue.

He added that the first discussions panel would be held on the sidelines of the conference and would focus on dialogue among religions and cultures and ways of building cooperation mechanisms between Islam and the West, in which a number of thinkers and experts in the issues of dialogue between religions would take part.

Zaqzouq pointed out that a final statement would be issued at the end of the four-day conference.

The minister emphasized the importance of this conference as a valuable opportunity for the scholars of the Islamic nations to gather in one place and exchange opinions on the worries and problems of the Muslim world and to speak about the issues of dialogue and tolerance among different religions and cultures.
