Iran rejects Arab-IPU communique on Iranian islands as “baseless”

Tehran : Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman here Friday rejected the communique issued by the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) on three Iranian islands as “totally baseless.” Seyyed Mohammad-Ali Hosseini emphasized that the Lesser Tunb, the Greater Tunb and Abu-Moussa islands are inseparable parts of Iran’s territory, adding, “Interference in the matter is regarded as interference in Iran’s internal affairs and is strongly condemned.” He pointed out that third party interferences in the
“misunderstanding” between Iran and the Emirates, that is solvable through negotiations is useless.

Hosseini added, “Under such conditions that the Islamic World is in need of stronger unity and harmony, particularly due to the continuous crimes committed by the Zionist regime against Gaza residents, raising concerns about deviated and questionable matters is suspicious and unacceptable.”
The Islamic Republic of Iran Foreign Ministry Spokesman meanwhile emphasized, “Such moves are by no means to the benefit of Islamic solidarity and the process of regional cooperation.”
Hosseini at the end asked for closer and more realistic attention of the Islamic World nations to the regional realities in accordance with the general interests of the world Muslims before adopting any stands under the current sensitive circumstances.
