Islamic Body Urges Israel to Stop Bloodshed

Dakar : The 57-member strong Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) called on Israeli to cease all attacks on Palestinian civilians.

The OIC, which comprises 1.3 billion Muslims, denounced before the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon Israel’s excessive use of force in the occupied territories.

Ban, who delivered the 11th OIC Summit opening address, said “Israel’s disproportionate and excessive use of force has killed and injured many civilians, including children. I condemn these actions and call on Israel to cease such attacks.”

Senegal president and curent CIO chairman Abdulaye Wade backed UN Secretary General words and urged a ceasefire.

Wade also called on Israel to end “all of its illegal activities in the occupied territories.”

The Senegalese president, head of the OIC for the next year, said he will make efforts to end the Middle East conflict his number one priority.

Malaysian Prime Minister and outgoing OIC chairman Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, also urged for support to back Palestinian efforts to establish an independent state.
