PCB keen on young blood for Bangladesh series

Karachi : The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is eyeing to blood in youngsters in the one-day series against Bangladesh scheduled next month, the media here reported.

“We want to try out more rookies in the home series that will include five one-dayers and a Twenty20 International,” chief selector Salahuddin Ahmed said.

Salahuddin, however, added that they would go for fair amount of experience in the side, as Bangladesh cannot be taken lightly.

“They can be a dangerous team on their day. For us the most important task would be to win the series and win comfortably,” Salahuddin was quoted as saying in The News.

“Bangladesh proved they are a good one-day side by reaching the last-eight in the (2007) World Cup,” he said referring to the spectacle in the Caribbean World Cup.

Against Zimbabwe, youngsters like opener Nasir Jamshed performed impressively and there are chances that most of them will be retained for the assignment against Bangladesh.

Pakistani cricket officials have lined up the series against Bangladesh after Australia decided to postpone their tour because of security concerns.

The PCB is also making renewed efforts to confirm an ODI series against Sri Lanka next month after the assignment against Bangladesh.
