New Delhi : A gurudwara worker, deposing as a witness in the gang rape of a girl in 2005, Monday turned hostile and told a city court he was not present when the girl was dropped after the incident at Dhaula Kuan here.
Gulab Singh, an attendant at the Dhaula Kuan gurudwara (Sikh temple), retracted his earlier statement given to the police.
The brutal gang rape took place in a southwest Delhi locality when men in a Santro car abducted one of the two girls belonging to the northeast region from near an eatery late at night. The men raped the kidnapped girl in the moving car and threw her out near the gurdwara near Dhaula Kuan.
“I was posted some 15-20 feet away from the spot where the girl was dropped by the men in the car. I did not see anything clearly,” Gulab Singh told Additional Sessions Judge V.K. Bansal. The judge posted the matter to Tuesday for further hearing.

The police in their charge-sheet claimed that four men – Ajit Katiyar, Danda, Jat and Tappe – May 8, 2005, abducted the girl around 2.15 a.m. from Dhaula Kuan in a steel coloured Santro and raped her for almost two hours.
The girl was walking back home with her friend after picking food from a roadside eatery.
Katiyar (28), whose features were described by the victim, was picked up May 13 that year from near the Delhi-Uttar Pradesh border.
According to the police, Katiyar has a criminal record with at least 10 cases like attempted murder, auto theft and illegal possession of arms registered against him. He has also been charged with shooting at a police party.
