Doctors of private hospitals and clinics will strike work, the medicos said. The call follows an attack by a mob on Tushar Shah and his clinic last Saturday after a patient died.

The relatives of the patient said it was the lackadaisical approach of Tushar Shah that resulted in the patient’s death.

When contacted, Tushar told IANS: “We’re not safe anymore”.

He said it has become a recurring feature to target the doctors if the patient dies.

“It is the doctor who bears the brunt while he does his duty. When a patient is brought in a serious condition, we tell the relatives that operation needs to be done and take their consent.”

“Our intention is to save the patient’s life and not kill him. In this case, the death was due to natural causes resulting from an ulcer. If so, why blame us?” he said.

At a meeting of doctors’ association Monday, it was decided to strike work. However, the government hospitals will be working normally.
