PM’s Jammu and Kashmir visit put off to April 25

Jammu, March 24 (IANS) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who was tentatively scheduled to visit Jammu and Kashmir this month to address the first convocation of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, will now be visiting the state April 25, according to official sources.

“The prime minister will be visiting April 25,” a senior official of the state government told IANS.

Besides addressing the convocation of the university, near Katra, Manmohan Singh would also inaugurate the Bhaderwah campus of the Jammu University.

Bhaderwah is the constituency of Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad.

No reasons were given for the postponement of the prime minister’s visit.
