U.S. death toll in Iraq hits 4,000

Baghdad : A roadside bomb killed four U.S. soldiers in southern Baghdad Sunday, the military said, raising the overall American death toll to 4,000 since the start of the Iraq War five years ago.

The soldiers were on a patrol when their vehicle was attacked at about 10 p.m. local time (1900 GMT), the military said in a statement Monday, adding that another soldier was wounded.

Identities of those killed were withheld pending notification of their next-of-kin.
