Daily Slams Extension of US War in Iraq

Washington : The US war in Iraq is unfair and unsustainable and the figures of its financial costs have already reached 12 digits, the Diario La Prensa newspaper said on Tuesday.

The US monetary expenses in the Arab country increase every second, while the extraordinarily long list of Iraqi dead civilians, the Hispanic daily said.

It also said the Pentagon recently reported that we had reached and had possibly exceeded by now 4,000 fatal casualties among the US military personnel.

All those dead men and women continue to be mourned and missed in this country. They were children, husbands and wives, fathers and mothers, the daily said.

Many of them had not been granted yet their citizenship, and their relatives are facing the danger of being deported, because they are still immigrants, the newspaper said.

It recalled that the New York City alone has lost 71 soldiers in Iraq, and at least 25 of them were Hispanic. Many were too young to die.

The effects of the increasing casualties and traumas cover a broad spectrum. Families of war veterans are taking care now of ex soldiers with cerebral disorders or depression, said the newspaper from New York.

Washington should strenuously seek a withdrawal strategy for a war that has become unsustainable and unfair since long time ago, the Diario La Prensa daily concluded.
