India to play tri-series in Bangladesh

Chennai : A tri-series in Bangladesh with the home team and Pakistan in the beginning of June will herald the Indian cricket team’s 2008-09 international season, the Indian cricket board announced here Tuesday.

Board of Control for Cricket in India’s treasurer N. Srinivasan said India would later travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup before touring Sri Lanka for three Tests and five one-day internationals in July-August.

India’s other overseas engagements include the Champions Trophy in Pakistan (Sep 8-28), a tour of Pakistan in January-February involving three Tests and five ODIs followed by a visit to New Zealand, he told reporters after a board working committee meeting here.

The complete itinerary:

June 2008 – Tri-series in Bangladesh (India, Bangladesh, Pakistan)
June 24 onwards – Asia Cup (Pakistan)
July 15-Aug 30 – Tour of Sri Lanka (three Tests, 5 ODIs)
Sep 8-28 – Champions Trophy in Pakistan
Oct 9-Nov 10 – Tour by Australia (four Tests – Bangalore, Mohali, Delhi,
Nagpur)
Nov-Dec – Tour by England (two Tests, seven ODIs)
Jan 4-Feb 20, 2009 – Tour of Pakistan (three Tests, five ODIs)
Feb 26-April 15 – Tour of New Zealand (three Tests, five ODIs)
