CAB joint secretary Amitabha Banerjee told IANS: “The proposal of appoint a CEO will be placed during the working committee meeting Friday.”

He said the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had asked the state body to appoint a CEO to give a professional approach and style of functioning.

“Now we will propose the matter along with a list of prospective candidates before the working committee,” he said.

Asked if he expected any confrontation on this matter, he said: “This is to make the CAB a more professional unit. Why should anyone object to it?”

Asked to give some broad parameters for selection to the post, he said there were basically three.

“The person has to be a chartered accountant with top managerial experience in a multinational, he should have at least a decade and half’s experience backing his profile. The most important criteria will be his interest in cricket and a wide vision of how to manage its administration,” he said.

“We have some names. There are more names pouring in. At this point we will not be able to divulge anything.”
