Mumbai : This is a show with a difference. Flying machines with power and grace at India’s biggest aero-modelling show, which kicked off Friday in Lonavala town of Maharashtra.
The show has been organised by Wings India, in the swanky Amby Valley private township of Sahara Group, rolled out a range of miniature flying machines like World War II war birds, aerobatic models, sports fliers and helicopters.
“This is the first such event in India both in terms of scale and participation. We want to create excitement about aviation and popularise flying as a hobby among a larger section of the public,” said Ravi Kothari, member of Wings India.
The event will feature some of the most experienced pilots who have flown the most sophisticated aircraft from around the world, including commercial airline jets and turboprops.
“At the three-day show, we will also have some real aircraft powered by nitromethane, gas, turbine fuel, and environment friendly high-power batteries,” he added.
Wings India Radio Controlled Model Club was established in 2004. The club provides facilities for aero modelling sport and encourages flying among amateurs and professionals in the country.
