Ranchi : Central Coalfield Limited (CCL), one of the key subsidiaries of Coal India Limited (CIL), has posted a profit of Rs.2.66 billion through e-auction of coal in the current financial year.
“Through e-auction our company has earned a profit of Rs.2.66 billion in the current financial year till March 25. CCL sold 5.44 million tonne coal through e-auction,” Deepak Kumar, public relations officer of CCL, told IANS.
He said: “The total profit earned by the company till February this year is Rs.6.10 billion. In the current financial year we are likely to earn a profit of more than Rs.10 billion.”
CCL had posted a profit of Rs.1.4 billion through e-auction in the financial year 2006-2007 and Rs.1.68 billion in 2005-2006.
CCL’s total coal production touched 41.84 million tonnes in the current financial year till March 25. Coal production was 33.81 million tonne in 2001-2002. It jumped to 40.51 million tonne in 2005-2006 and rose to 41.32 million tonne in 2006-2007.
