Damascus : Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Al-Mouallem said Lebanon lost a golden chance to settle its domestic crisis by missing the March 29-30 Arab League Summit.
The Summit in Syria enjoys global support, except the US, along with all Lebanese parties.
Anyone who may think that attending or not was an official decision neither reads nor understands the crisis in Lebanon.
He added the Arab countries should call the Lebanese parties in conflict to hold talks and work out an accord without winners or losers, bearing in mind that every solution should be Lebanese and emerge from dialogue, said the minister.
The Lebanese crisis is owed to the impossibility to elect a president since November 2007 and the Summit would have been an excellent scenario for a closed-door, frank and open debate of foreign ministers and heads of state.
It would have also allowed Lebanon speak to Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad on bilateral ties.
Al-Mouallem reminded that some ALO members hold special ties with Lebanon, like Saudi Arabia and Egypt so their contribution should be greater to implement ALO initiatives to settle the crisis.
