Mohtisham Abdul Ghani passes away

Bhatkal (Karnataka): Mohtisham Abdul Ghani, community leader and president of Anjuman Hami-e-Muslimeen, breathed his last on 27th March at the RNS Hospital in Murudeshwar. He was 52.

Jukaku Abdul Rahim, vice president of the Anjuman expressed his grief over the demise of Ghani. He announced that all schools and colleges under the management of the Anjuman would remain closed except those having university and board examinations.

The funeral prayers of Mohtisham Abdul Ghani took place at 5:00 pm at Jamia Masjid. He was buried at the old graveyard in the presence of thousands of people.

Condolence messages have poured in from across the world. From Dubai, S.M. Syed Khalil, community leader, said Ghani was a pillar of the community and his contribution in social and educational fields was enormous. Anjuman Engineering College stands as a sentinel to his contribution as it was he who was instrumental in establishing the professional college at Bhatkal.

In Bhatkal, Muslims, Hindus and Christians have expressed shock and sadness at the sudden and sad demise of Ghani.

In his condolence message, Mohammed Zahid Ruknuddin, secretary-general of Bhatkal Muslims’ Khaleej Council, said Ghani was an outstanding figure in the fields of social work and education. He established himself as a very serious and dedicated worker – both in commercial and social arenas.

Several organizations and associations like the Bhatkal unit of Jamaat-e-Islami and Deccan Welfare Association have also condoled the death of Ghani.
